GRID – CONNECTED / ON – GRID / GRID TIED SOLAR SOLUTIONS

On-Grid / Grid-Tied / Grid Connected Systems
  • Mostly used in utility scale projects to supply electricity to the grid/DISCOM at pre-determined tariffs.
  • Most suitable for areas where there are no or less power cuts and the customer pays high electricity tariffs.
  • Can also be used for captive consumption. Depending on state solar policy, excess generated electricity can be given back to the grid and the customer can be eligible for Net – Metering or FiT (Feed-in-Tariff).
  • Can be easily synchronized with Diesel gensets to reduce the overall cost of electricity/unit.
  • Allows system to avoid storage (batteries), which has a huge cost.
  • Can help people save huge costs and generate some extra income.

POSSIBLE SOLAR SOLUTIONS

Used for captive consumption. Viable to customers who are already paying very high electricity tariffs. Considering the rise in electricity tariffs due to various factors, combination of solar and grid can help save a lot of electricity cost. Excess energy generated can be given back to the grid and based on the policies, either net metering or pre-determined FiT (Feed – in – Tariff) is applicable. It can help people generate some extra income.

STANDALONE / OFF – GRID SOLAR SOLUTIONS

Off - Grid or Standalone Systems
  • A battery bank is set up which stores excess energy and can be used later when required.
  • Such systems have an application in areas which do not have access to grid at all or have very limited access to grid.
  • They also have an application in areas which can’t afford power loss at all (Like: Hospitals, IT companies, Telecom towers etc.)
  • Cost saving is not an advantage in such system because batteries have regular maintenance and recurring costs.

POSSIBLE SOLAR SOLUTIONS

  • Standalone systems have many applications and can be used in various ways.
  • Such systems are used where there is no access to the grid or any other source of electricity at all.
  • These systems can be used with:
    • Only DC Load
    • Only AC Load
    • Both AC & DC Load

HYBRID SOLAR SOLUTIONS

Hybrid Solar Systems
  • Combines multiple sources of power such as Grid, Diesel, Wind, Solar & Storage to form a very high efficiency system
  • Such systems offer great opportunity to reduce energy costs and ensure continuity in event of grid absence.
